The Prague Public Health Authority has officially identified the vehicle and primary risk factors behind a severe foodborne salmonellosis outbreak at Masaryk Elementary School in Újezd nad Lesy, Prague. Current public health surveillance indicates that approximately 250 individuals, both children and adult staff, have fallen ill, with 41 patients requiring hospitalization.
Laboratory analysis has so far confirmed Salmonella enterica infection in 13 individuals, with identical clinical symptom profiles and cohort survey data establishing the common point-source exposure across all cases.
Retrospective cohort questionnaires distributed to all parents and school personnel confirmed that 100% of symptomatic cases consumed "Spaghetti Carbonara" served during Monday lunch on September 21.
Public health inspectors revealed that the shell eggs utilized in the dish carried a best-before date of September 15, 2026. The kitchen staff processed these eggs on September 21, six days past expiration. In addition to expired ingredients, the investigation cited a probable failure to maintain proper culinary heating protocols.
