Danish veterinary authorities have detected an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) at a commercial poultry facility in Bøgelunde, located within the Slagelse municipality in western Zealand. The incident marks Denmark's first confirmed HPAI case in domestic poultry for the 2026/2027 season.
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (Fødevarestyrelsen) reported that the virus was identified in a commercial fattening turkey holding housing approximately 40,000 birds. To curb viral dissemination, veterinary teams, in collaboration with the Danish Emergency Management Agency, initiated depopulation and on-site disposal protocols for the entire flock.
