Israel: New case of avian influenza

06 May 2010

Avian influenza kills two Emu birds in Ein Gedi menagerie.
Two Emus that died Thursday in Kibbutz Ein Gedi's menagerie succumbed to an H5N1 strain of the Avian influenza virus.
Tests conducted on the birds, in the veterinary institute, identified the nature of the disease. Officials estimated that the Emus were infected by migrating birds.
As a precautionary measure, all birds in the menagerie culled.
