On 24 March 2010 an outbreak of low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) of the type H7N1 was found in a holding with 3700 mallards for breeding near Brenderup in the municipality Middelfart on the island Funen. The holding was tested in accordance with the Danish surveillance programme for avian influenza in poultry. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration have established a restricted zone of 1 km around the holding and are implementing the control measures in accordance with Council directive 2005/94/EC.
