The European Commission has officially launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of Pekin duck from China following a formal complaint submitted in May by five EU producers, according to Euractiv.
The investigation will examine import data covering the period from January 1 to December 31, 2025.
In their complaint, the European producers argue that duck production in China is subject to significant market distortions resulting from extensive state intervention. They specifically cite China's 14th Five-Year Plan for Agricultural Modernization, which outlines substantial government support for the livestock and poultry sectors, and warn that these policies are expected to continue under the recently unveiled 15th Five-Year Plan. The complainants also contend that public subsidies provided to China's soybean-processing industry and other animal feed manufacturers artificially reduce feed costs, thereby distorting production costs and enabling exporters to sell Pekin duck at unfairly low prices.
The European Commission stated that the evidence submitted by the complainants was sufficient to justify the initiation of a formal anti-dumping investigation.
