Turkey: a sagittal section of a turkey’s head during necropsy revealing the diphtheritic form of fowlpox. Prominent, yellowish, caseous plaques and diphtheritic membranes are visible on the mucous membranes of the oral cavity and upper respiratory/digestive tracts, characteristic of this obstructive form.

A cutaneous form of fowl pox in a 17 week old turkey, characterized by prominent, crusty nodular lesions and scabs distributed across the unfeathered skin of the head, particularly on the snood and around the beak.

A young dark-feathered chick exhibiting prominent multifocal, nodular lesions around the unfeathered facial regions, consistent with the cutaneous form of fowl pox.

The young pigeon exhibits nodular, proliferative cutaneous lesions pathognomonic of the cutaneous form of Pigeon Pox. Prominent, erythematous, multi-lobulated masses are present at the cere and adjacent to the oral commissure. Additionally, raised hyperkeratotic crusted lesions are visible along the lower periocular margin, mildly distorting the palpebral fissure.

A 22-week-old laying hen with multiple severe, multifocal, crusty skin lesions on the unfeathered areas of the head, highly characteristic of the cutaneous form of fowl pox. 

A 23-week-old commercial egg-laying hen presenting with clinical signs highly consistent with fowl pox. The oral cavity reveals severe lesions characteristic of the wet (diphtheritic) form of Fowl Pox.
