Sharp decline in bird flu cases reported in the US during March
2 April, 2025
March saw a significant decline in bird flu cases across the US, with only four laying flocks (commercial table egg pullets and commercial table egg layers) reporting diagnoses, compared to 21 and 22 farms affected in February and January 2025, respectively.
The number of birds involved also dropped considerably, with approximately 2 million laying birds affected in March, down from 11 million in February and 19 million in January. Similar decreases were observed in the turkey and duck sectors. No cases were reported in the broiler sector, and only one case was recorded in the broiler breeder sector.
