Bird flu in US dairy farms - Update
21 November, 2024
As of November 20, 2024, 616 dairy farms in the U.S. have tested positive for the bird flu virus since the first reported case on March 25, 2024. Contrary to expectations of a decline in cases following measures implemented by authorities, the number of diagnosed cases continues to rise. In November alone (up to the 20th), 181 dairy farms were confirmed positive, accounting for 29% of all cases reported since the outbreak began.
This trend highlights the significant shortcomings in the U.S. authorities' response to controlling the spread of the virus.
