Finland orders 20,000 doses of Avian Influenza vaccine
6 June, 2024
Finland is planning to provide vaccines to individuals at risk of exposure to an avian influenza strain that is spreading among farmed and wild animals, according to health officials. This move could make Finland the first country to implement such a measure as concerns about the virus's threat to humans grow. The vaccination will be offered to select groups, including poultry farmers, veterinarians, scientists studying the virus, and workers on fur farms housing animals like mink and fox, where outbreaks have occurred. Finland has ordered 20,000 doses of avian influenza vaccines.
