USDA confirms HPAI in a backyard flock in Nebraska

The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has confirmed the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a non-commercial backyard flock (non-poultry) in Merrick County, Nebraska.The Nebraska Department of Agriculture said the outbreak follows recent detections in wild birds, one from Lincoln that was announced on Mar 7, with similar cases that followed in wild geese from Cedar and Douglas counties.
