Salmonella reports fall in Austria

In 2020, the number of primary human isolates sent to the National Reference Center for Salmonella (NRZS) decreased by 51.6% as compared to 2019. In 2020, 906 human salmonella isolates were recorded by the NRZS. An annual incidence of 10.2 / 100,000 inhabitants. Salmonella enteritidis was the most frequent serovar (43.4%) with 393 human isolates. S. typhimurium (including the monophasic variant) was the second most common serotype 166 cases (18.3%).
