Ukraine and Germany: H5 avian influenza

Ukraine has reported an outbreak of H5 highly pathogenic avian influenza on a farm in the west-central part of the country (Vinnitsa) the first of such outbreak in nearly three years. 
The H5N8 avian influenza strain, has been reported from different European countries in recent weeks.
Germany had detected a case of H5N8 in a wild bird (A wild white-fronted goose, in the eastern German state of Brandenburg), no birds on farms were involved.
In the winter of 2016-2017, half a million birds had to be culled in Germany in one of the worst outbreaks ever.
