Avian influenza confirmed in Norway
16 November, 2021
Norway reported its first-ever highly pathogenic H5N1 avian flu outbreak in poultry.
The Norwegian Veterinary Institute has detected the avian influenza H5N1 virus in a herd of 7,500 laying hens in Klepp municipality in Rogaland.
All animals in the infected poultry farm have been killed and restrictions are imposed on poultry farming in a larger area around the herd to prevent further spread of infection to birds.
