JBS acquires stake in Mantiqueira

Brazilian meatpacker JBS has announced its agreement to acquire a stake in Mantiqueira Alimentos, marking the company's entry into the egg sector, with the transaction valuing Mantiqueira at 1.9 billion reais ($321 million). In a securities filing, JBS stated that it had agreed to purchase shares representing 48.5% of the total capital stock and 50% of the voting shares of Mantiqueira, allowing it to share control of the company with its founder, Leandro Pinto.
Mantiqueira Alimentos Brasil is one of Latin America’s largest and most respected egg producers. Renowned for its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and animal welfare, the company offers a diverse range of egg products, including cage-free, free-range, and organic options. 
Currently, Mantiqueira produces approximately 4 billion eggs annually and operates plants in six Brazilian states. The company also exports eggs to various countries across South America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
The Mantiqueira deal is still subject to regulatory approval.
