Elanco partners with Medgene to market bird flu vaccine for dairy cattle
Elanco Animal Health announced the establishment of an agreement with Medgene, a South Dakota-based biotechnology company, to utilize its advanced vaccine platform technology (baculovirus derived recombinant subunit vaccine). Under this agreement, Elanco will oversee the commercialization of a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) vaccine for use in dairy cattle. Medgene has reported that the vaccine has successfully met all requirements outlined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for platform technology and is currently in the final stages of review for conditional licensure.
The USDA has previously approved Medgene’s vaccine platform technology for use in cattle, enabling the company to accelerate the development of the H5N1 vaccine.
