USA: Human H5 cases, 2024
1 November, 2024
Since April 2024, CDC has confirmed H5 bird flu infections in 39 people in the United States. Eighteen of these cases were associated with exposure to H5N1 bird flu-infected poultry and 20 were associated with exposure to sick or infected dairy cows. The source of the exposure in one case, which was reported by Missouri on September 6, could not be determined. All available data so far suggest sporadic instances of animal-to-human spread.
