Listeria alert: Nationwide recall of 12 million pounds of precooked chicken

18 October, 2024

BrucePac, a producer of precooked meat and poultry, has issued a recall of nearly 12 million pounds of ready-to-eat food items due to a potential listeria risk. The recall was initiated by BrucePac on October 9, following positive test results for Listeria monocytogenes bacteria from products inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Further investigation identified the source of contamination as the company's ready-to-eat chicken, which is based in Oklahoma. To date, no illnesses or fatalities associated with BrucePac products have been reported.
