Eurostat 2025 Report: EU Poultry Sector

19 January, 2026

Latest figures from Eurostat underscore the poultry industry's growing dominance within the European meat market, as the sector records its most robust growth in recent years. According to the 2025 report, "Key Figures on the European Food Chain," EU poultry production reached 14.1 million tonnes in 2024. These findings reaffirm poultry’s position as the European Union’s second-largest meat sector, trailing only pigmeat, and producing more than double the volume of bovine meat.
A Trajectory of Rapid Expansion Following marginal setbacks in 2021 and 2022, the poultry sector has entered a period of significant expansion. Building on a 2.3% increase in 2023, production surged by 6.0% in 2024.
Poland continues to be the undisputed leader in EU poultry production, accounting for 20.5% of the total output (2.9 million tonnes) in 2024. Other major contributors include: Spain: 12.8, France: 12.2% and Germany: 10.9%.
Market Stabilization In terms of pricing, the market has shown signs of stabilization following the volatility of previous years. After the sharp price spikes experienced in 2021–2022, poultry output prices saw a corrective decline of 5.3% in 2024.
