BARD WORKSHOP ON THE EVALUATION OF NOVEL TECHNOLOGIES FOR REDUCING ENVIRONMENTAL SPREAD AND EFFICIENT ERADICATION STRATEGIES FOR HIGH PATHOGENICITY AVIAN INFLUENZA

Antalya, Turkey, November 2-6, 2008

Dear Colleague,

We are turning to you because we believe that you can make a difference!

The above mentioned workshop aims to provide a forum for debating the environmental characteristics of Avian Influenza (AI) which is responsible for the global spread. It is vital we address the issue urgently and discuss and develop new strategies to eradicate and control AI. Currently, eradication and vaccination strategies and policies for avian influenza, including the destruction of local flocks, is endorsed by mandatory regulations of the Veterinary Services in each country. This workshop aims to examine the recent scientific findings. Our believe that the more we discuss and debate with each other, experts in the field, we will be able to provide and update on the scientific basis for the Veterinary Services policy for eradication and control of Avian Influenza.

We have selected Antalya, a popular holiday resort which will be a pleasant backdrop for our workshop. We look forward to meeting you in Turkey

Sincerely,

SCIENTIFIC and ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
