USA: Outbreak of Listeria infections

25 August, 2019

CDC, several states, and federal partners are investigating a multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections. 24 people infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes have been reported from 13 states. Of 23 ill people with information available, 22 hospitalizations have been reported. Two deaths have been reported. The outbreak strain is a close genetic match to the strain of Listeria monocytogenes that is behind a concurrent Canadian outbreak.
