Saudi Arabia: Avian Influenza found in Saudi poultry farm

Saudi Arabia 14 November, 2007

The H5N1 strain of avian influenza has been detected at a poultry farm in Saudi Arabia and 50,000 birds have been culled. Tests were carried out after 1,500 birds died in a farm of the Al-Kharj region, 150 kilometers (90 miles) south of Riyadh. All the birds on the farm were subsequently culled.

First H5N1 avian influenza cases in Saudi Arabia were detected on March 2007.
