UK: Infected turkeys have H5N1 avian influenza strain

Initial tests at the Veterinary Laboratories Agency suggest that free-range turkeys on a Suffolk farm are infected with the H5N1 strain of avian influenza. This is the first outbreak of the H5N1 virus in the UK since February when the disease was found in turkeys at the Bernard Matthews plant, in Holton, also in Suffolk.
