UK: Avian Influenza in turkeys

UK 12 November, 2007 Defra has today confirmed Avian Influenza in turkeys (free-range, bronze turkeys eight weeks old  - Redgrave Park Farm, in Redgrave; Gressingham Foods, is the company that owned the farm) on a premises near Diss on the Norfolk/Suffolk border after preliminary tests were positive for the H5 strain. The premises also contain ducks and geese. The site of the new outbreak is a farm 107 miles northeast of London, near the town of Diss, that also has ducks and geese. Some 5,000 turkeys, more than 1,000 ducks and 500 geese on the rearing unit site in Redgrave, Suffolk.
A 3km Protection Zone and a 10km Surveillance Zone are being established around the Infected Premises.
