Low Pathogenic avian influenza in Denmark

Denmark 29 April, 2008 On 28 April 2008 an outbreak of low pathogenic avian influenza of the type H7N1 was found in a holding with geese, ducks and mallards on the island of Funen. The holding was tested in accordance with the Danish surveillance programme for avian influenza in poultry. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration has established a restricted zone of 1 km around the holding and are implementing the necessary measures in accordance with Council direstive 2005/94/EC. All the birds in the holding are killed today.
The latest outbreak of HPAI and LPAI in Denmark was found in 2006.
