2nd avian influenza outbreak confirmed in S. Korea

South Korea 5 April, 2008 A second avian influenza outbreak has been discovered among poultry in south-western South Korea.
The new outbreak was confirmed at a duck farm in Jeongeup, about 250 kilometres south-west of Seoul, where half of its 12,500 ducks have died since Monday (31/3).
The farm is 27 kilometres from a chicken farm where this year's first avian influenza outbreak was confirmed three days earlier.
The last time a virulent strain was reported in South Korea was in March 2007.
